Happy Thursday friends! I’m a little under the weather, so I decided to get caught up on some work. Lately, I have been receiving a lot of questions about what type of undergarments I wear under different types of clothing. I decided since there was so much interest I would cover it all in one post!
Once you enter into you 30’s and 40’s, your weight starts to distribute a little differently (at least mine has!) It’s harder for us to build muscle and sadly we gain a little more weight around the waist, hips or thighs. Sometimes in all 3 places! That can mean that our undergarment needs can change.
These days I’m less concerned with quantity and more concerned with quality. I’m all about anything that can suck me in or lift me up that isn’t insanely uncomfortable. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error over the last few years trying out different bras and undies that are not only functional but comfortable. There were so many items that I ended up returning or throwing away because they were just not cutting it. I decided to save you all a lot of money and frustration, and I made a list of my Top 10 Must Have Undergarments If You’re Over 30.
1. Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra
Every woman needs a great strapless bra. Finding a comfortable one that doesn’t end up around your waist by the end of the day is about as easy as finding bigfoot. This one from Wacoal is amazing! I wear this one all of the time! If I’m traveling and trying to save space this is the only bra I bring! It also has removable straps so you can wear it like a normal bra or criss-cross the straps to wear with racerback styles and it has amazing reviews. It’s a little on the pricier side, but I have had mine for 3 years and it’s still going strong!
This T-shirt bra is hands down the best one I have found. It is very lightly lined, just enough to where there’s nothing poking through, but not so much that it adds too much extra for you bigger-busted ladies. They have a survey that you fill out that helps you get the perfect size. I took the survey and thought that they were dead wrong on the size they recommended, only to have it fit perfectly once it arrived! Again they are a bit pricier, but they quality and fit is outstanding! Right now if you buy two or more you can get $15 off!
3. Full Coverage Front Close Racerback
For months I was searching for the perfect racerback bra until I came across this jewel. It has memory foam cups and is made of microfiber that feels so smooth on your skin. It is undetectable under your clothes and has a low center, so you can’t see it if you are wearing a low cut top. They have a bra donation program, and if you bring in an old bra to donate to a women’s shelter you get $10 off a regular priced bra!
I have several summer dresses that dip down low in the chest or in the armpit area where a normal bra just won’t work. This inexpensive bandeau is a great little piece to throw on underneath that doesn’t make you hot! I have one in black and one in white. I would say it’s best for sizes A-C as it doesn’t offer a ton of support. It’s less than $20 and comes in 3 colors!
These Spanx tight suck you in and lift you up in all of the right places! Anytime I have to wear tights in the fall or winter these are my go-to pair! I have had mine for 4 years now and they still look brand new!
6. Spanx Power Short Mid Thigh Shaper
Now I don’t wear Spanx often, but when I do this is the style I wear. If I have a special occasion, or a very sheer outfit, I will whip these babies out to give me the lift in the rear and to smooth out all of the lumps and bumps.
7. Seamless Bralette
This seamless bralette is perfect for days when I’m out running errands and the material is super soft! I can wear it under t-shirts or throw a button up top on over it and it looks like a cami sticking out. It is lightly lined & gives support without flattening you out like a lot of sports bras. I have one in black and in white and they are less than $15!
8. Soft Stretch Seamless Bikini
This is my all time favorite seamless underwear! I bought my first pair on the Nordstrom Sale a couple of years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since! So many seamless undies just don’t stay put, and there is nothing worse than feeling them creep up all day and looking for a corner to adjust in! They also come in a hipster style that I like too!
9. Soft Stretch Seamless Thong
I honestly don’t wear thongs as much these days as I use to, but there are some pants you can’t get away with not wearing one. This seamless one is the best one I have found by the same maker as my favorite seamless bikinis up above!
10. Lace Padded Racerback Bralette
As many of you know the Free People bralette was the big trendy piece from last year. While it was pretty, I didn’t like that it had zero padding and your chest was announcing anytime it was cold in the room if you get my drift. Plus the Free People one was almost $40. I like this one from Amazon so much better and it’s only $15. It has light padding and looks really pretty peeking out under a tank or sweat shirt. I got a white and black one and they have held up great and I have had mine almost a year now.
These are all of my favorite basics that I wear all of the time! If there are any you love that I should try out let me know in the comments down below!
