What do you think of when you think of Valentine’s Day?
A little romance, right? Chocolate, flowers, a nice candlelit dinner?
Well today, I can help you mark one thing off your list: the candlelit part that is.
The best part? That you can do it for only ten dollars!
First, you start with two candles from Dollar Tree. They don’t have to be these exactly, but you want a tall, skinny candle.
You also are going to want two large glass candle holders from Dollar Tree (I had a picture, but it accidentally got deleted). They also have them at Dollar General, but they are $3 there. Still a good deal, but why not save $4 if you can?
I taped a plastic sack around the clear candle holder so the bottom 3/4 was exposed.
I then used a light silver spray paint and painted on one coat, and another coat an hour later. I let that dry overnight.
The next day, I sprayed a darker silver spray paint halfway up the light silver. I didn’t tape it off this time since, I was afraid the tape might rip off the dried paint since it was glass. I just kind of eyeballed it.
Once that dried for a few hours I removed the tape.
Then I hot glued these clear candlesticks (also from Dollar Tree) onto the bottoms of the big candle holders.
The last step is to place the candles inside. You can glue them in, but I wanted to be able to replace them once they burned too low.
That’s all there is to it! Now you have the perfect mood lighting to dine with your sweetie on Valentine’s Day!

I love this idea and am going to the Dollar Store today to see if I can find something similar. I can think of many uses for these candleholders.

Abby says
These are so pretty! I’m intimidated by spray paint, but you make it seem easy and completely doable!
Shanna says
Thank you Abby! After all of this time, I’m still intimidated by it too! As long as you stay the recommended distance away from the piece you’re painting you will do fine. I get impatient and start getting too close so I can get it finished more quickly and that’s when it starts to run.
