April Amazon Favorites

Hello my friends! I know I disappeared for a hot minute, but when you’re trying to do this whole influencer thing on your own without an assistant it can be difficult to keep all the balls in the air. Between Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and now the dreaded TikTok, it seems like I can focus on two things consistently and the others get ignored sadly. Unfortunately lately it’s been the blog, but I’m determined to get at least one blog post out to you guys a month regularly.

Didn’t April seem to go by in a flash? So many things going on, and this month doesn’t look like it’s going to go any slower. Mother’s Day, weddings, and graduations galore!

I have to tell you what happened last month! Our hometown had a massive tornado come through! Topher and I were home, and we had a massive storm roll in with ping pong ball size hail. The wind was howling, and the hail against our house (one whole side of the house is windows) and the noise was deafening. We lost power, so we had no news to watch or working phones, so we weren’t sure what was going on with the weather. All of the sudden it stopped raining and everything got very still. Everything turned a eerie green color. Topher went outside to see what was going on and over our fence line you could see a funnel cloud way too close for comfort! I have been through a lot of tornadoes in my life, but nothing as close as this!

We were trying to figure out which direction it was heading as our daughter lives on the second floor in an apartment building, and there was nowhere for her to take shelter. We called her and told her to fly over to our house as we have a basement. Then we realized the tornado was coming closer to us, and we called her back and told her to stay put.

By the grace of God the tornado bypassed us, but sadly it damaged over 1000 homes, wiping out many clear down to the foundation. So many businesses including our local YMCA will have to be completely rebuilt. Somehow with all of that damage and force of the tornado, not one person had a major injury. All things can be replaced (although my heart breaks for the loss of all of those lost pictures and keepsakes) but as long as your family is safe you are blessed.
