I found something amazing!!! I’m so stinkin’ excited about this! So Tuesday, I was making my daily rounds on Craigslist when I came across an ad for a chandelier that had just been listed.
You all know how I am when it comes to chandeliers, see here, here and here. But this this one takes the cake! Although I did show Topher my great find and he wasn’t nearly as excited as I was (funsucker), but you guys all get me so I know you will be just as excited as I am.
Once I saw the picture I knew I surely wasn’t the first one to see it, since it had been listed for a whole 4 minutes, but I replied to the email and nervously paced around waiting for a reply … totally expecting a “sorry but this has already been sold”, which would have killed me because this chandelier could totally make my life.
Well, lo and behold, after 15 minutes of me hitting refresh on my email, I got a response saying I could pick it up that night!
Ho-ly freakin’ cow! I couldn’t believe it.
He said he got it out of an old farmhouse and I could have it for … get this … $20!
Remember back when I had the disastrous experience of painting my dining room the wrong color of aqua? Well the dining room, now being the rightish shade of aqua has the antique crystal chandelier in there. In the entry way (right beside the dining room), it has a modern pendant light that came with the house, and the two lights don’t go together at all.
So this new fanfreakingtastic chandy is going in that spot.
And get this, it has turquoise crystals! I could die! Topher said he could too when he found out he would be rewiring it. I’m just pretending I didn’t hear that.
Here is a sneak peek, mind you it is covered in years and years worth of filth (and where they got these blue frosted light bulbs I will never know), but you get the picture.
Ta Da!
I knew you would love it as much as me! That’s why we’re friends.
I do have a second reveal for you.
Remember when I showed you my client’s bedroom reveal the other day? I knew you would.
Well remember when I showed you the wall where the “mirror to come” would be going? Well here is what that baby looked like before: It originally was one of these two bad boys that I removed from this mammoth dresser I did way back when. I removed the mirrors since it dated the piece once it was refinished in ivory.
They have been sitting around in my basement until I figured out what I wanted to use them for. When my client told me she was looking for something large for that spot in her room, I knew that this would be perfect.
Before:
I removed the glass, painted the frame black, distressed it and coated it in clear wax. I then popped the mirror back in.
I love the Hollywood Regency shape it has!
