Swap It Like It’s Hot

Guess what? Today kicks off the Swap It Like It’s Hot Tour!!!!

If you haven’t heard of this before, it’s where 33 bloggers each choose someone out of a group and send them some junktastic thrift store goodies. Then we all have to take what we received and transform it!

I’ve seen this tour before, and I thought they looked so fun and wished I could be part of it. This year, I was invited to participate, and it has been nerve-wracking but fun!

How to Shop Your Home (Part 2 of Our Decorating Challenge)

Today is the second month in our three month decorating challenge!!!

The challenge is that we all decorate the same space in our home for three months using only things we already own.

Decorating my home isn’t as easy for me as making over furniture. Some people just have that knack, but I have to work at it a bit. I’m the type that decorates it once, and then it doesn’t change for the next five years.

So I was glad that this challenge really made me think, and it didn’t even cost me a dime! I dug through my basement and storage room and found things that I totally forgot about.

25 Shades of Blue

Well we all know that 50 Shades of Grey is taking theaters by storm.

Since that is not really what my blog is about (ain’t nobody want to see that!), I’m doing my own spin with 25 Shades of Blue.

If you follow my blog, you know that I am obsessed with two things: furniture makeovers and different shades of the color blue. I have it everywhere. It’s the color on my walls, my Christmas ornaments, my chandelier, my furniture pieces, and so on. When I first started my furniture booth, I went to load all of the pieces in, and I quickly realized everything was a different shade of blue! I have had to force myself to incorporate other colors.

I think we all have colors that we are naturally drawn to, and blue is definitely the one for me.

Valentine’s Day Vignette

Things have been a bit more chaotic around here than usual.

I just finished up a desk for a client and have been working on a giant china hutch. Topher had been out of town for a few days, and I’ve been doing a bit of redecorating upstairs and downstairs. I realized I hadn’t shown you my little Valentine’s Day vignette I a did a few weeks back, and since V-Day is on Saturday, I figure it’s now or never.

I’m trying to stick with my plan of not spending money on my decor this year and using what I already have. I talked about this more in my How To Shop Your Home post.

The spot I chose to make over was my vintage desk, which is right beside my mantel. While going through my ~~hoard~~ treasures in the storage room, I found this mirror I forgot I had (shocking I know). I found it at a yard sale last summer for $6. And for a pop of color, I threw in some artificial flowers that I have had for a while in a vintage, trophyish thing….

How to Make a French Image Transfer

Happy Monday everyone!!

I hope you all had the beautiful weather we had! I got so much spray-painting finished and even took some photos outside … even though everything is dead. We watched This is Where I Leave You which was really good. Our new carpet in the basement was installed, is incredibly gushy, and Gracie our pup keeps rolling all over it, so even she knows it’s a lot better. We then had to carry all of the furniture back down and reassemble everything, which took a lot of time. We decided to move our giant sectional to face the opposite way, and it feels like we are living in a new house. I now have to figure out what goes where, and I have some new motivation.

I also worked on a desk for one of my favorite clients, and I tell you this piece is going to be the death of me.

Anything that could go wrong did, and by the end of the day I needed a beer and a massage.
