For months now, my friend has been wanting me to help decorate her 5-year-old daughter’s bedroom. I told her that we would have to start with the most important piece — the piece that makes or breaks an entire room:  the rug.

It can take a simple room from bland to BAM!!

Check out the two rooms down below. Both of them are fantastically decorated rooms, but the rugs are the one item that take them over the top.

A few weeks ago, my sweet friend Christy from Confessions of a Serial Do-It-Yourselfer invited me to participate in a Tour Through Blogland.  On this tour, each blogger is supposed to share a bit about ourselves, answer four questions, and introduce you to some other bloggers that I adore.

Christy and I share a passion for all things turquoise, upcycling vintage furniture, and repurposing ordinary items.

She is a fabulous decorator — you have to see her amazing home! So much of the personality in her home cost virtually nothing because she’s able to refinish all sorts of beautiful pieces herself.

Her dining set is just one example that amazes me. Can you believe she only paid $85 for this?

What I like most about Christy though is her beautiful personality. I recently got to spend some time with her at Haven, and I absolutely love this girl!

The first week of September, I will be turning 39.

The number 39 itself I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is that it means I will be one year away from the big 4-0.

What the heck?

If I only live to 80, that means I will be at the halfway point.

How did I get so old? Mentally I don’t feel that old. My body is starting to show some signs though. Keeping my weight in check is one of those signs.

In high school and college, my diet kind of looked like this:   Breakfast – Donuts and a Pepsi; Snack – Pepsi; Lunch – Pepsi and some Cheez-Its from the vending machine; Dinner – a huge ribeye and baked potato slathered in butter from the Steak House I waited tables.

I did this everyday for years and still maintained my 110lb body.

Now once the unnamed child was born, I changed my diet to be slightly more healthy … but not a whole lot.

Once I turned 37 though, everything came to a screeching halt. My body started piling on the pounds, so I knew I needed to make some changes. I had to start working out on a regular basis and eating foods that contained natural colors instead of artificial ones. So for the last two years, I have been feeling pretty good about my healthy 3 meals a day….
