I found this coffee table at a yard sale a couple of months ago.
Guess what they were asking for it? A whopping $10!
I love the lines and pretty carved legs. Unfortunately, the finish was in bad shape, and I didn’t like how dark it was.
So when DecoArt offered to send me some of their Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint to try, I knew this would be perfect on this table.
First, I cleaned all of the years of filth off of the table with a wet cloth.
I started out by painting the legs and border of the table in Whisper.
After two coats of that, I got started on on the center of the table where I painted on two coats of Heirloom.
I love this paint because it eliminates the sanding step since it adheres to any surface.
Then I distressed the entire piece with a medium grit sanding block.
Last, I coated the whole piece in Americana Decor Creme Wax and buffed it off.
I’m still debating on whether or not I should go back over it with Dark Wax, but I think I will live with it a few days before I decide.
I really like the color combination and the distressing really made the legs the showcase of this piece. The best part of Americana Decor paint? They sell it at Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, A.C. Moore and other stores. Visit the DecoArt Chalky Finish website for more chalk paint ideas and inspiration.
I have also used Americana Chalky Finish Paint on my vintage shelf and my chalkboard.
What do you think? Should I add the dark wax?
I love the detailing of the legs of the coffee table. I would leave it as is because it is gorgeous!! I can’t believe you only paid $10 for it. I need to find deals like this 🙂 Love it!!
I love love love it!!! I’ll give you $25 for it lol. The colors are gorgeous & you have a great eye. I wish I could look at something & imagine it like you do. Thank you for inspiring & sharing!
Awww thanks so much Jo Jo!
Great makeover & good eye for potential.. Love the colors you used!
It’s gorgeous!! I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thanks Teresa!
I love it! I vote no to the dark wax. So pretty. xo
Thanks my dear! Usually when I second guess myself and keep messing with a project I mess it up and am mad at myself anyway.
Oh, it turned out spectacular. I wouldn’t change a thing. The legs and the little flower motif are distressed just enough and they catch your eye right away. I think the dark wax will just be overkill and make it look dingy.
Thanks Lisa! I think you are right. I’m going to just leave well enough alone.
Love it as-is. Sure looks pretty now, you are such a good redoux’er!!
Thanks Shannon! Right back at you!
What a great transformation! Love it Shanna xoxo
Thanks Clydia!

So pretty and what a bargain! I don’t think you need the wax. I’m definitely going to look for this product the next time I’m at Home Depot.
