We live in a small town. One thing about most small towns … they are big on football, and our town is no exception.
Every Friday night, everyone bundles up and heads to the stadium. After the game, the unnamed child usually has a group of kids over to our house to watch movies. Of course being teenagers, when they get here they are hungry.
The girls have finally gotten to the age where they are concerned about their figures. Instead of the ice cream and candy that they used to request, they now ask for fresh fruit, nuts, and popcorn.
I’m thrilled to provide them with healthier options, and besides, I think all of the sugary snacks made them stay up later. Anything I can do to get the squeals and giggles to end earlier than 4:00 in the morning, I’m all for.
While gathering snack supplies at Wal-Mart the other week, I came across Skinnygirl Popcorn.
Now I have tried Skinnygirl Margaritas in the past, and I am a big fan of those, so I decided to give this low calorie popcorn a try.
I grabbed both the Lime & Salt and Butter & Sea Salt flavors. They come in individual serving sizes, and I though each girl that wanted one could make their own.
So last week, I set up a table full of goodies that included almonds, fresh fruit, pretzels, zero calorie Vitamin Water, banana chips, a variety of granola bars and the Skinnygirl Popcorn.
In they they all walked, announcing how they were all starving to death, and they pounced on the food table.
The first thing they all grabbed was the popcorn. I wasn’t sure what they would think of it, sometimes low calorie equals zero taste.
They devoured it! They loved both flavors, but the Lime & Salt won out.
I check out the box and found that:
- Every Skinnygirl product offers at least a 20% calorie savings vs. its competitors
- No artificial flavors
- No artificial colors
- No artificial sweeteners (e.g. aspartame or sucralose)
- No high fructose corn syrup
- It doesn’t taste overly sweet, which represents the “better for you” and lower calorie benefit
- It comes in a variety of interesting, unique flavors
Once I saw that information, I decided that I needed to try it out myself.
I have been back to working out on a regular basis and eating healthy.
If I am on track for the day, I try to give myself a little reward at the end of the day. It’s hard to find something that satisfies you and is healthy. This does the trick!
The Lime & Salt is my favorite, and I throw one in the microwave and eat it while I watch a little HGTV each night.
I literally can’t taste the difference between this and any full fat microwave popcorn, and this has only 25 calories per cup popped.
If you love popcorn but pass on it because you don’t want the fat and calories, Skinnygirl Popcorn is the one for you!

I can’t wait to try it! I always have bags of popcorn when my daughter’s friends come over. They eat fruit like there is no tomorrow. Great idea on the Skinny Girl popcorn!
It’s almost October and that means that Heart of Dixie will be returning…yay!!!

Seeing as how I can devour a whole bag of popcorn in one sitting, I could definitely go for less calories and no fake ingredients. I’ve tried a few Skinny Girl products and love them, but I had no idea they were making popcorn. Going to try the Lime and Salt one!
