I’ve got a treat for you today! One of my best blogging buddies Jen from Girl in the Garage is here to show you an easy way to turn something you have ready for the garbage into a pretty vase for the summer. Jen is a furniture upcycler just like myself so if you get a chance you really do need to check out her fabulous makeovers.
Hi everyone! This is Jen from Girl in the Garage sharing a simple DIY project with you today. (Thanks for having me, Shanna!)
I wanted some new decor for summer so I went to the store one day looking for glass to decorate. I planned to buy empty vases or carafes, but didn’t see any I liked- and they were more than I wanted to pay anyway. Then I happened to find these mineral water bottles at the grocery store for less than $1 each – score!
I emptied the bottles and removed the labels. (I used Goo Gone and a lot of scrubbing!)
Then I bought some cardstock cutouts from Hobby Lobby (I’m a sucker for anything French-themed) and gathered my Mod Podge and a decoupage brush.
I dumped out the cutouts and rearranged them about a dozen times, and then glued them to the bottles with a light brush of Mod Podge on the back.
These lovely decoupaged bottles are perfect for summer! (Can you tell which way the wind was blowing? Ha!)
I put a stem of faux flowers in each because the bottles really shouldn’t get wet.
Are you making any new crafts or decor for summer?
Thanks again for having me visit today!
