Happy Monday everyone!!!
We had a great weekend at our place. Friday night we hosted a small holiday party that we have every year. We got to see an old family friend of ours that we rarely get to see, but I will share more about that with you later this week. Saturday night, Topher had his Christmas party for work where we had a lovely dinner and then took a bus tour to go look at Christmas lights. During the day Saturday and Sunday, I stenciled the walls in my laundry room. I am almost finished, and honestly, I can no longer move my right arm, so I may still be wearing these same clothes until Christmas. But I am determined to finish it tomorrow, no pain no gain right?
Luckily, with all that went on over the weekend I had already finished all of my Christmas decorating. I’m not a big winter kind of girl. I hate cold weather and the grey dreary skies don’t do it for me. I do, however, love to be able to turn on all of my sparkly lights on those grey days, and that cheers me right up.
This year, I changed things up a bit with my mantel. As you saw in last year’s mantel decor, I have a giant mirror that hangs over it. Now hanging this baby up was nearly the death of Topher and my brother as it weighs about a million pounds. So when I told him I wanted something different over the mantel this year, I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head, and he told me that (in no uncertain terms) that that mirror was staying put until we moved.
So I then decided that I could temporarily cover it up. He cut a piece of thin veneer for me, and I spray painted it with chalkboard paint, and we used 3M Command Strips to attach it. I added my Super Easy Feather Boa Wreath on top of it.
I laid some garland across the mantel and attached some turquoise ornaments to add a bit of pop.
I flanked each end with my sparkly deer and lay my new JOY marquee letters across the chalkboard.
I then attached my Santa and reindeer banner across it.
A few days later, my santa and reindeer were replaced by my 5 Golden Rings project from my 12 Days of Christmas Tour which I made out of embroidery hoops and burlap.
In front of the fireplace I took my DIY Ornament Wreath from last year, and I removed the bow and set my sparkly vintage ice skates against it.
Next to my mantel is my secretary where I added a vintage touch with some old clocks and books. Next to it I had to add in some more turquoise and festive disco ball ornaments.
As we make our way into the dining room, you will see Bessie all cozy in her winter scarf.
At my dining table, I brought out some vintage glasses that I got from my surrogate grandmother. I used to be so bad at not using pretty things that had been passed down to me, but I finally came to the conclusion that what good do they do you if they just sit in a cabinet? Now I make sure that I bring them out on special occasions and that the good memories of that person come with them.
I have a simple centerpiece this year. My honey made me this simple box out of barnwood for my Valentine’s Day centerpiece, so I filled it with candles, some artificial greenery that I cut up and some little Christmas bulbs.
Thanks for coming over to visit! I will be showing you my Christmas tree soon, and if you would like to see more of my Christmas decor head over here.

You were smart to think of covering your mirror instead of moving it. I actually thought it was a chalk board!
Turquoise look so pretty for Christmas and I love seeing touches of it all over your home.
Those glasses on your dining room table are really pretty. Glad you are using them instead of hiding them in a cabinet!
