Welcome to our new series, where some of my blogging buddies and I show you how we decorate a new space without spending a dime. We will each choose a space in our homes and show you, over the next three months, three different ways to decorate it using only items that we already own.
As soon as I took my Christmas decor down, my first instinct was to go out and buy some new goodies to decorate with. My hubby and I had made a pact, starting at the first of the year, that we were going to get rid of a bit of credit card debt that we had accumulated ASAP, so now that the debt diet has begun, my little trips to find new goodies have come to a halt.
At first I was frustrated … who wants to live in a house that doesn’t look nice?
So I decided to shop my own home for some new decor.
The space that I chose to decorate was my antique buffet. I put up a valentines day banner that I had bought from Magnolia Polka Dots, along with some pink trees that I found at a yard sale.
The little silhouette came from another yard sale I stumbled upon last summer.
My window above the buffet was my Christmas present from my hubby.
My bust came from the clearance aisle from a craft store last year, and to spruce her up I added a flower behind her ear.
The vintage camera came from an estate sale last year, and I pulled my old corbel out from the basement.
My mercury glass vase came from Michael’s two years ago, and the flowers were from Dollar Tree last year.
I was pretty pleased that I came up with a Valentine’s Day themed buffet without spending a dime!

It’s gorgeous, Shanna! Your beautiful buffet is the perfect backdrop for all the pink. I’m like you, my first instinct is always to go buy something to freshen up a tired space, so this will be interesting for me too. 🙂

What a fun idea and way to be thrifty! I find I often spend when I could use what I’ve already got. I’ll have to think about this. Your post is inspiring.
