Guess what I missed on Monday?
National Dress Your Pet Up Day!
I know! How could I have missed that? To celebrate (a bit late) here are some pics of my puppy posse.
Now … nobody needs to tell me that dressing up a pet is mean. I literally dress them up for maybe five minutes once a year. These are the most spoiled rotten, pampered dogs you have ever met (Charlie won’t even step off the deck to potty if there is dew on the ground — God forbid he get his delicate little paws wet). So we have a bit of an agreement: they get this wonderfully cushy lifestyle, and in exchange they have to deal with dressing up once a year. I think they are doing pretty OK.
I know most of you won’t care about this post but, it entertains me … so please indulge me.
Gracie‘s first sweatshirt:
Gracie with her real hair starting to grow in, and she looks a bit scraggly:
Kitten and her sombrero. Doesn’t she look so happy?
Lulu as a bumblebee for Halloween:
Gracie as Snow White, but the rascal refused to wear the wig:
Gracie as a pretty princess:
Now some of you might be wondering why there is only one picture of LuLu. She has some “issues” and gets this terrified look on her face whenever I try to dress her up, so I don’t try it too often.
You also might be wondering where the heck Charlie is. Well, when you try to dress Charlie up, he growls like you’re killing him and tries to tear your arm off. Crabby little dog. For a 6 pound pooch, you wouldn’t think it would be that difficult to put clothes on him … but trust, me it is.
Please do me this favor: For all of you pet lovers out there, dress your babies up, take a quick photo (before they start writhing on the floor trying to get it off), and post it on my Facebook page (I might try to find a few others and post them out there as well).
Happy belated Dress Your Pet Up Day!

Back in the 70s, I used to put my red stocking cap over my gray horse’s ears and he would wear it for awhile!
