Hello my friends!
Sorry I have been MIA lately, but we have been struck with some illnesses around here the last month, and my sister-in-law had twin little girls (which are so stinking cute), and I have been watching my 3 year old niece while they recovered in the hospital.
A few weeks back, Topher and I went on a getaway to San Francisco, and I thought I would share a little about our stay.
Did you ever have a hotel stay that was perfect?
I mean where every. single. detail. was absolutely perfect?
Well we hadn’t either until we took our recent trip to San Francisco, where we stayed at Loews Regency. From the minute we walked through the door, we were treated like royalty … and for two kids from Kansas, that’s exciting stuff, people.
We arrived in SF a little early (gained two hours flying west), and we wanted to immediately start exploring the dozens of things on our “Things To See” list, but we didn’t want to drag our luggage around with us. Since our room wasn’t quite ready (it was before 10:00AM), Loews kindly offered to store it for us and immediately call us when our room was available.
After we got a bite to eat, sure enough we received a call that our room was ready for us. As soon as we walked back in the lobby, everyone there (from the doorman, to the concierge, to the front desk clerk) they all called us by name.
Once we were taken to our room, we were in awe.
We were on the 48th floor (the top), and the views were stunning! You could see the entire city from our huge windows!
We stayed in a Deluxe City View Room, and it did not disappoint, my friends. It was giant! We seriously could have moved in and been totally happy forever after.
Let’s talk for a second about the bed. We are bed snobs, folks.
There are so many hotels that we have visited in the past where we have woken-up in the morning with sore necks and backs because the beds were too hard, or too soft, or squeaky, or the pillows are weird — there was that one hotel that had pillows that made a crinkling sound all night, and Topher wouldn’t stop moving around … rattling … and I thought I was going to have to smother him with it.
I digress, the point here is that the bed at Loews was heavenly. We usually toss and turn a lot at night, but not in this bed. At Loews, we were in a sleep coma. As in we didn’t move a muscle all night because we were so stinkin’ comfortable.
We woke up in the morning feeling refreshed with no aches and pains in sight.
The first thing we had to do was go explore the hotel.
They have this amazing sky deck where you can see absolutely everything, from the Golden Gate Bridge, to Alcatraz, to the TransAmerica Pyramid, to Coit Tower!
It was stunning!
On weekends, they offer the “Weekend Wine Down” from 5:00-6:00, where you can enjoy the sunset views while drinking delicious wine on this beautiful sky-high deck.
You didn’t have to ask us twice!
We were unwinding in the room a bit after walking around, when suddenly our doorbell rang.
Yes we said doorbell.
After figuring out that we had a doorbell (and it wasn’t an iPhone alert), we opened our door to be overwhelmed at the gorgeous fruit, nut, and chocolate tray Loews had sent up for us!
We were feeling really high class at this point … and devoured it in no time flat!
Our room also came with:
- housekeeping that came twice a day,
- a gigantic Italian marble bathroom that our entire family (including the pups) could have fit in (that would have been awkward but it was entirely possible),
- gushy bath robes we wanted to live in,
- super soft slippers,
- a high quality TV that you could adjust to angle towards the bed or the couch (which we loved because we were watching the Olympics and Shanna wanted to watch it while she was getting ready and in bed),
- an iPhone docking system which was super convenient, and
- TONS of power and USB outlets (thank you very much Loews … we’ve stayed too many places that didn’t have enough outlets for all our gadgets, and the consideration to modern-day-travelers’ needs is much appreciated).
One morning during our stay, we decided to try out the hotel restaurant: the Brasserie S&P.
Topher decided to try out the three egg omelet, and I ordered the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes.
Let’s just say they were amazing … and were gone in no time at all!
The second day of our stay, Loews found out we were celebrating our anniversary, and they surprised us with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries.
We were feeling so fancy at this point I didn’t think Shanna was ever going to leave this place.
This was the morning view from our room before the fog had cleared off.
That evening we had reservations at a restaurant, and we decided to take a few fun shots with the beautiful view before we left.
We decided to grab a couple of drinks before dinner at the hotel lounge: The Bar at Brasserie S&P.
Shanna highly recommends the Ginger Beer, and the truffle fries were delicious! (Topher had a Budweiser. Boring.)
The next day, after a couple of days of fantastically glutinous meals, we decided we needed to burn off some calories.
We headed down to the hotel gym and were shocked what we found. Other hotel gyms contain a sad little exercise bike, and an all-in-one machine from the 80’s that no one can really figure out.
Loews gym was huge and had elliptical machines, tons of treadmills, and tons of modern weight machines, bottled water, fruit, complimentary headphones, and a great view of the busy street below to keep your mind off the minutes ticking by on the machines.
Some of the other perks of the hotel were the super friendly and knowledgeable concierges, and the courtesy car that they called for us to take us to dinner each night.
All in all, there was not one single thing we would have changed about our stay at Loews Regency of San Francisco.
They were so in tune with our needs, that they knew what we needed before we did. In fact, we have stayed at another upscale hotel chain since this trip, and while it was nice the whole time … we just named one thing after another that Loews had and they didn’t.
The other places weren’t bad.
They just weren’t … Loews.
While traveling from now on, we will always try to stay at a Loews hotel if at all possible.
Thanks so much to Loews Regency of San Francisco for hosting us, as always our opinions are 100% our own.
