Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend!
Ours was pretty mellow. I tried to take Topher to see a movie for Father’s Day, but unfortunately it was a freaking zoo there, so we bought tickets but then couldn’t find any seats … so we got our money back. I did take him out to dinner though. The movie will have to wait until next weekend.
As you all know, I have been repainting the interior of my house, and the exciting part of finishing it is getting to put up some new decor.
I had been wanting to put up a plate wall somewhere in my house for quite a while, so I have been picking them up here and there for the last year or so.
When I finished painting my hallway I knew that was where the plate wall was going to go.
I am obsessed with my puppy plates!!!
For Mother’s Day, Topher had them commissioned from an amazing artist on Etsy. I had previously had my animal plates in my kitchen, and some of them came from West Elm. Topher asked the artist to style these new plates to look like the ones from the store, in a “dapper animal” style.
She said no problem.
Well they arrived, and they look exactly like Charlie, Gracie and LuLu! I couldn’t have been happier, and she had an super quick turn around time.
Topher and I were in Kansas City a few weekends ago and went into West Elm on The Plaza. They had more of the animal plates there, along with a picture and the name of the artist … and it was the same lady that made my plates!
We didn’t put together that she did these mass produced ones, and the ones we had made until we saw here name in the store.
When Topher asked her to make the ones we ordered like the ones from West Elm, I’m sure she was thinking of course I can because I made those too!
We felt stupid.
Anyway, I love my little plate wall, I love that it gives a pop of color, and most of all I love that it gives a personal touch incorporating my little love muffins.
P.S For all of you that are asking the paint I used was from Pittsburgh Paint in Grey Stone and the plate hangers I used can be found here.

I wonder – how did you hang those plates? I used command strips to hang three nice french cheese plates a few years ago and one fell and broke – and I had used ones rated for much heavier objects, too.

We used these adhesive plate hangers: http://amzn.to/28PJZKf
So far, they’re the best we’ve found for hanging plates, and they come in a variety of sizes to fit whatever plate you’re trying to hang.
