While getting ready for my Halloween Home Tour, I pulled an old buffet out of my basement that had been sitting there for quite a while. We’ve moved it with us, from home to home, for over 15 years, and during that time it was used for all sorts of purposes, and stored all sorts of goodies.
Up until two weeks ago, it was in storage being used for stashing old photos, and there were tons of currently-not-in-use-just-waiting-for-the-perfect-spot things stacked on top.
The top was badly scratched from when Topher would store computer parts and tools on top of it, and there were pieces of the veneer that had to be replaced from the unnamed child running her tricycle into it years ago.
Once the repairs were made, I used the same Chalk Paint® colors I did on my other buffet. I used Old White over the entire buffet and painted the inset pieces with Provence.
Of course, while I was painting, Charlie sat down on the wet paint lid — he doesn’t go to the groomer for another week, so until then he will be walking around here with a Provence blue bum.
I then distressed it (the buffet, not Charlie’s bum) and used a coat of clear wax to seal it.
This piece, believe it or not, I am actually going to keep … at least for a while.

Looks great! Sounds like maybe another negative report card from the groomer is in the works with Charlie’s blue bum… 😉

So pretty Shanna! I love that you took the time to do something for yourself!

It’s so hard to find the time to do things for yourself isn’t? When you work from home it is nice to have some pretty things to look at though!
