Happy Monday everyone!!
I had a busy weekend full of painting and cleaning up filthy furniture rescued from barns and sheds, not so fun … but on the upside I found out it was the General Hospital 50th Anniversary marathon. From Saturday night to Monday morning, SoapNet was airing 50 hours of “vintage” General Hospital episodes.
The downside was, I don’t have the SoapNet channel. 🙁
So I called up my cable company and found out it would be an extra $10 a month. So I did some negotiating and got my bill reduced by $16 a month; so basically, it meant I got the channel for free. So now I have 50 hours of GH recorded and no time to watch any of them.
The unnamed child has been sick for the last 5 days but had been toughing it out at school. Today she woke up even worse, so I decided to keep her home. I have a million projects I need to work on today, but instead the kid and I are taking a sick day together. We are camping out in the basement with the pups, some junk food, and a 50 hour marathon.
The kid and I have watched GH together for years, but she doesn’t know all the back stories of characters. GH has now brought back a lot of the original characters (Luke and Laura, Duke and Anna, Frisco and Felicia), and we are going to have a history lesson.
Don’t judge people. Some parents teach the classics, this is just my version of home schooling.
Speaking of original character, this piece has lots of it.
My client brought me this piece (I am also doing an end table and an armoire for her).
I painted it with grey chalkpaint, distressed it, glazed it, repainted the original hardware and coated it in a clear wax.
Such a cute, grey vintage desk!
Great transformation! So pretty now….Christine
LOVE the desk!!!! 🙂
The desk is adorable. I’m sure your client is thrilled. Enjoy your down time with your daughter. Visiting from Tweak it Tues. Have a great week. Blessings! Wanda
Thanks Wanda! I have had a nice day with the kiddo. I had a million things I should have been doing, but I know in 3 years when she moves out, I will look back and be glad I hung out with her instead of working. Have a great week!
I LOVE this desk! It is a amazing transformation, If you get a chance, please link this up to my sunday linky party: http://suburbsmama.blogspot.com/2013/04/sunday-linky-party-2.html
LUKE AND LAURA!!! Oh, I used to LOVE Generah Hospital!
Thst dresser is insanely gorgeous! Hope she who shall not be mentioned is feeling better. 🙂
Thanks Desiree! Unfortunately, Topher and I have the plague now too. We are not a fun bunch to be around right now. I only have 20 hours left of the 50 hour marathon if that tells you have active I have been. Have a good week!
Oh I love the grey!! Do you use a homemade chalk paint or Annie Sloan?
Thanks Mandy! I use homemade chalkpaint using the calcium carbonate recipe. I love Annie Sloans but it’s just too pricey for me.
Turned out great!
Thanks so much!
That turned out so very lovely! Love the color!

ha! I wouldn’t mind a Days of Our Lives marathon from c. 1980-1990….I don’t think I watched it after that. I remember watching it with my mom back then, though–you’re creating priceless memories ;). And super cute desk!
