Hello my friends!
I am starting to feel a bit better finally. Still a bit weak and a little achy, but this bug really bit me in the butt. For a full week I was a sleeping, sweating, moaning, NyQuil-popping mess.
Needless to say I got zero accomplished.
Plus Topher and I are headed to Kansas City this weekend for my birthday, so I won’t be doing any catching up then either. A girl only turns 40 once right?
So we will be doing a little vintage shopping and eating really unhealthy (but yummy) food and having a fun weekend alone. The kid will be home hanging out with friends.
My parents will be housesitting the furbabies.
I decided to ease back into things with a fun and easy craft for you today! This is an inexpensive one that is fun to bring the kids in on. These Nail Polish Marbled Vases are also a great gift.
Here’s what you need:
- A vase, mug or anything made of glass (mine came from Dollar Tree).
- White Satin Spray Paint (I used Rustoleum’s Universal Satin Paint and Primer)
- Inexpensive nail polish (Dollar Tree)
- A plastic bucket (mine came from Dollar Tree)
I started with these vases and a mug from Dollar Tree.
I took my pieces and gave them two coats of this
Here’s what they looked like afterward.
After they dried thoroughly, I filled my first bucket up 3/4 of the way with water.
I then poured in half a bottle of nail polish. The polish will float.
Get a paper plate or some layered paper towels to lay your piece on once you have dipped them. I then quickly submerged my vase and them laid it on the plate. Just set it to dry for about 15 minutes.
I love how the marbled effect is different on all of the pieces that I did!

Happy Birthday Shanna, enjoy your birthday weekend. I’ve pinned your pretty marble vases because I think they would make fabulous gifts. Thanks for the inspiration.

Such a smart idea! I too, have the Mateus bottle on my bookshelf. My hubby and I used to drink it at our favorite Pizza restaurant, back in our younger days. Happy birthday!

Oh wow, this is the best vase marbling tutorial so far. The idea to first paint the vase white I think is what really makes the difference..
Your coffee table vignette is so beautiful…

Lovely! Happy birthday! did you paint the inside and outside with the white?

When you submerge the vase, how do you dunk it without getting the nail polisher mixer all over your hands?
