Happy Monday friends! Hope you all had a great weekend!
Last week was Topher’s (my hubby) birthday, so we went out to dinner to celebrate, and my brother and sister-in-law threw him a little family celebration over at their house yesterday. They have the 4-year-old and twin 18-month-old’s I love to talk about, so it’s always fun and a little wild over there playing with the girls.
Here in Kansas, we actually had a little snow over the weekend! Ugh! I’m so ready to pack away all of the cold weather clothes, but for now you just can’t trust this weather. This week we are back up into the 80’s again, so I thought I would show you one of my new favorite spring outfits that is super affordable!
This cute little pink sundress is a great style for us ladies over 35. It flares out at the bottom, which is super flattering if you are pear shaped, and it is a little longer length if you don’t like a lot of your legs exposed. It comes up high enough in the back so you can wear a bra with it which is a must for me. I find so many sundresses anymore have exposed, low cut backs, which look pretty from the back, but you are forced to wear sticky bras or nippies which always make me nervous. When it gets warmer you can wear it on its own, but for now you can throw a jean jacket over it or a cute cardigan if you want to wear it to the workplace. It’s less than $30 and an extra 30% off if you use the code HURRY.
These yellow wedges are a great inexpensive find for only $28! They come in 3 colors: yellow, tan and blue. I love the cute little bow detail and they are super comfortable!
This jean jacket is a great year round staple. It’s the perfect color, not too dark, not too light of a wash, and it’s the perfect length. This one is $37 with an extra 30% off with the code HURRY.
When I turned 40, my body gave me a lot of new little fun gifts, like crows feet, crepiness on the top of my hands, and insomnia. One of my least favorites has been dark under-eye circles. I had heard a lot of my friends complain about it throughout my life, but I had never really suffered from that, so I never gave it much thought. Then 40 hit and all of a sudden I started noticing a hollowing out under the eye as well as dark circles no matter how much sleep I was getting. I started out on a mission to find the best under eye products out there and throughout the last year I have tried them all ladies.
The product that I use first in the mornings is Becca’s Under Eye Brightening Corrector. I tap a very small amount of this under my eyes first before my concealer. I use the color Light to Medium. It has a moisturizing effect to it as well as a color corrector that reflects light away from the dark circles.
To top off the dark circles I also have super dry skin that is getting worse with age, so many concealers would cover the dark circles but then look super cakey or emphasize the crepiness under my eyes. So after months of testing, Tarte’s Shape Tape is my go to concealer in the color Fair. It has the best coverage without emphasizing the fine lines under my eyes.
I then set my concealer with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. It’s a cult favorite for a reason, it doesn’t settle into your fine lines, doesn’t look cakey, and lasts longer than any other setting powder I have used. It’s a little pricey but a little goes a long way, and I have had my same original package for almost a year
I then finish putting on the rest of my makeup. As I said I have been suffering from insomnia, and if I had a night where I had zero sleep and my circles are worse than normal I will then top things off with Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift in Shade 1. I lightly tap on of two tiny daps of this where I still notice any darkness and then use a little brush with some more setting powder to lightly go over that area to re-set it.
Here is my under eye routine:
- Lightly Tap a little Becca Under Eye Corrector in my tear trough or anywhere there is darkness
- I apply my Shape Tape under my eye and on top of my eyelid (I use it instead of a primer, works great for me)
- I then set it with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
- Then if needed top it with a very light layer of the Instant Eye Lift
Now on days that I am just running to the grocery store or little errands where I’m not really worried about running into people I will just throw on my Shape Tape some CC Cream and call it good. On days where I am wanting to look nicer or a little more professional I go through the extra steps.
These products are a little pricier than average drug store products but I have been using all 4 of these products for almost a year and haven’t run out yet. A little goes a long way and the quality on these can’t be beat. That being said what works on one person might not work on another so I try to buy what I can from Nordstrom or Sephora (with the exception of Shape Tape which is only sold at Ulta or Tarte directly) that way if you don’t like them you can return them!
Do you guys have problems with under eye circles? If so, have you always had them or did them develop for you late on in life too? What products work for you?

I also use the Becca product and Tart Shape Tape…I got the Becca Undereye Corrector as a gift when I bought their foundation on QVC a while back. The foundation has become a favorite of mine!
Thank your fam for throwing our sweet son a birthday party while dad and I were in the hospital..that was so nice!
