Happy Labor Day everyone!!
I know many of you will be out at the pool or enjoying your last trip to the lake. Today, I have vowed to only work a total of 2 hours!
Gasp! I know!
I worked Saturday and Sunday, so I decided today I’m going to enjoy at least half of the day.
I think the kid talked us into going to see If I Stay. She didn’t have to twist my arm too much — Topher, on the other hand, is not sharing our enthusiasm.
Saturday we grilled out for my dad’s birthday party and watch my little niece toddle all around the house.
Sunday my parents watched her for the afternoon, and the unnamed child and I went over to play with her a little more. Man it’s been a long time since I watched The Jungle Book or Snow White. We watched them on VHS if that tells you how long it’s been since my parents had a grandchild (the last one is my 16 year old).
My creative ADD has been in full swing, because this weekend I was working on a two mirrors, a side table, and two coffee tables.
Sadly, I only completed the one down below.
I found this mirror at a yard sale for $3.
It was pretty scratched up, and the mirror was pretty crazed, but that’s what I liked about it.
It had originally either been the top part of a dresser or a full length mirror on a stand because there were holes in the side where it attached to something.
I filled the holes with 3M Wood Filler. I let it dry for a couple hours, and then I sanded it even.
Now you can never even tell there were giant holes there!
I painted the whole thing in Sweet Cream Plaster Paint.
I then dry brushed the entire frame (focusing on the edges and carving) with Grey Silk Plaster Paint.
I loved how it turned out!

Glad you had a great weekend! My doctor quarantined me for the weekend because I have the flu so it’s not been fun for me. Love the mirror!! You did another beautiful piece!!

So sorry you’re sick Crystal! Such a weird time to have the flu! Get better soon!

Mirrors are a weakness of mine! I have two in the garage right now that need some love. I’ve never used plaster paint…I’ll have to check that out, because your mirror looks lovely!
Have a great week.
