Welcome to the Secret Santa Blog Tour!
Some of my blogging buddies and I decided to chose names and make a fun holiday gift for each other. The name I chose was Therese from Fresh Ideas Studio.
Now making a gift for someone whom you have never met in real life is very challenging. You have never seen the way they dress or have seen the inside of their home (except what you have seen on their blog). I had noticed that a lot of Therese’s projects on her blog contain fun vibrant colors. so I decided to go from there.
First I started off with this plaque that I got at Michael’s along with the wooden deer head.
The first thing I did was stain my plaque in Minwax’s Dark Walnut.
I then painted a light coat of Plaster Paint’s Ivory Lace over the stain so that you could still see some of the stain showing through.
Once that was dry I used Frog Tape in the chevron pattern and placed it across the plaque.
Next I painted over the top with Plaster Paint’s Native Stone.
I removed the tape while it was still wet and allowed it to dry.
I then lightly went over the entire piece with my sander to give it a distressed look.
Next I took Krylon’s Glitter Blast in Golden Glow and went over the deer head. I ended up having to go over it twice to give it the coverage I wanted.
I then used Gorilla Wood Glue to attach the deer head to the plaque.
I then glued on a little red glitter ball I had from another project for the nose.
Hopefully this is something that Therese will be able to use in her home!
The person that drew my name was Vanessa from DIY 180.
I was so excited when I got my package in the mail and found out that she had done a perfect job on making me some gifts that fit my style to a tee.
As you all know I’m obsessed with turquoise and aqua, and Vanessa made me these darling burlap banners. One said Peace, one was Love and the other is Joy. I immediately added this on to my vintage secretary.
The other goodie I got is this perfect vintage cup that she made over into a pincushion!
My home is an eclectic mixture of modern and antiques, so I was over the moon about this!
As a crafter I am constantly using pins and they always end up in the bottom of this giant crafting box that I have. I am getting ready to make over my craft room/office, so I can’t wait to use it in there!
