Stocking Stuffers for Your Pets

Every year, one of our big Christmas traditions has always been hanging our stockings. Topher and I did it when it was just us. Then the unnamed child came along, and I made one for her also.

As you all know our fur babies are part of the family, so of course, they have stockings that Santa fills every year as well.

Since we have three pups, filling everyone’s stockings can get a bit pricey, so we have found that getting our treats and goodies in large quantities at Sam’s Club, and dividing them up, is the cheapest way to go.

My brother and sister-in-law, as well as my parents, are huge animal lovers too, each having two furbabies.

For Christmas, we make gift baskets for their babies too. Not only are their goodies fun for them, but it keeps them occupied (and not begging) while we eat Christmas dinner.

All of the pets in our family have really added so much to enrich our lives. My parents didn’t have their first dogs until 5 years ago. And now they are so in love with them (which can help lower blood pressure) and they take them on a walk religiously which helps keep their weight down. They even take them to visit Santa every year!

When giving pet gifts for Christmas, make sure you give them gifts that are not breakable. Last thing you want to do over the holidays is pay out the nose for an emergency vet..

If you wrap their gifts, make sure the wrapping is loose or their gift is simply placed in stockings like we, do so you (or they) can just pull them right out.

I also wouldn’t wrap food treats, only toys or they could eat right through the wrapping to get to it.
