Today, my friends, is month three in our One Space Three Ways Decorating Challenge.
If you are new here, what we do is take one space, and we decorated it for Fall, Halloween, and Christmas.
I chose my coffee table, since it is one of the main focal points of my living room.
My family is very used to coming home and finding the house looking totally different than it did before they left. I might hear an occasional yelp from my hubby when he runs into a newly moved piece of furniture in the middle of the night, but other than that they don’t complain. When it comes to Christmas, though my daughter doesn’t like me messing with traditions.
About 10 years ago, I bought a couple of these sweet little sugar houses at a day after Christmas sale and fell in love.
Since then, I add a new house to the collection every year.
Knowing that month three of our decorating challenge was coming up, I had been envisioning all of the different possibilities and was getting excited.
When my daughter found out I was straying from the tradition of having our houses set up on the table, she looked so disappointed.
So…. I decided to scrap my elaborate plans and go with what makes her happy.
That’s what Christmas is all about anyway isn’t it?
So while my sweet little village might not make the cover of Good Housekeeping, it did make me happy when I saw my daughter introducing it to my 2 year old little niece and seeing the excitement in her eyes.
I figure that you have to pick your battles, and this was one worth losing.
Do you and your family have any holiday traditions?

I just love this Shanna, not because those Sugar houses aren’t precious, it’s because you choose what really matters.
