Hi! I’m Christy from Our Southern Home. It’s a pleasure to be meeting you today from Shanna’s blog, Restoration Redoux. Shanna and I had the pleasure of finally meeting in person last summer at a blogging conference. We’ve been great friends since!
Shanna is so talented with the paint brush! I am excited to be sharing a few of my own favorite painting projects from my blog Our Southern Home with you today.
This project was a huge undertaking for a client. She wanted to use this bedroom suit from her grandmother in her little girl’s room. It was quite the challenge due to the dark stain bleeding through. In this post, I share my Tips on Painting Dark Furniture. I love how it turned out!
Do you see the little duck egg blue side table in the corner? In this post I share my favorite paint for outdoor furniture. The majority of our screened in porch has been furnished with thrift store, consignment and newspaper ad (before Craigslist) treasures. I was able to pull the blue color from the flowers in the pillows.
Here is another piece on our screened in porch. It used to be in our kitchen and looked very different. I added a few simple stencils to add a decorative touch. It’s a definite favorite out here. You can find all the details and more photos HERE.
This piece used to be French Linen with clear and dark wax. When I moved it to the kitchen, it was just too dark. I simple added a white wash over it. I love the texture it adds to the piece now. You can find the details HERE.
This is one of my favorite thrift store finds. It went from ordinary to dripping with French Farmhouse charm with a blend of Old White and Pure White and a newly stained top. It works beautifully in our upstairs family/media room.
I also enjoy painting signs and making tired accessories look like new again with paint. Painting signs is easier than you may think! I have a great tutorial for you on the blog. You can see the how-to for this Diner sign HERE.

I look forward to visiting my blog, Our Southern Home.
