Hello my friends!
Today I’m stepping a little out of the box and showing you my 5 Must Have Beauty Products for Spring.
In case you’re wondering “What does this have to do with furniture makeovers, decorating posts, or anything DIY related?“, the answer is … it has nothing to do with those things. If you know me at all, 90% of my life I spend with zero makeup on, my hair in a ponytail, and in paint-covered sweats. When you work from home and no one sees you all day, what is the point of straightening your hair and putting on makeup?
On the rare occasion that I do leave the house, I am past the point in my life where I don’t look that bad without makeup. Those days ended around my early thirties, and things really took a turn when I turned the big 4-0 this year.
If you’re anything like me, you don’t like wasting money on a bunch of different beauty products you try out and end up throwing away because you didn’t like them.
Today, I thought I would show you what is working for me, and hopefully they will work for you too.
The first product is a foundation. My entire life, I have never worn foundation. Up until this year, I would just use loose powder and that would be my base. Sadly I am now starting to see the effects of sun damage, and I am getting some mild dark circles under my eyes from chronic lack of sleep. I knew it was time to use something with a little more coverage. I had tried a couple of different foundations and I hated them all. I felt like they were too heavy and didn’t look natural on my light skin. I decided to go with It Cosmetics CC+ illumination. It’s a color correcting, Illuminating, full coverage cream … plus it contains an anti-aging hydrating serum. It also contains a SPF 50+, which I love because this girl doesn’t need any more sun damage. It has a very light weight texture to it, and it makes your skin feel very light and dewy but still covers up what you need it too. A little goes a long way, and it lasts me all day without it getting cakey.
My next favorite product is a life changer people! I had been searching for a new mascara for a long time. I had several that I had used that were alright, but just not exactly what I was looking for. When I went into Sephora one day, I asked for a recommendation, and they suggested Benefit’s they’re Real. OMG! I can not say enough good things about this stuff! It separates your lashes and lengthens them like never before! The unnamed child came into my bathroom one day and borrowed this mascara when she was out, and she immediately told me she had to have some for herself! It’s that good people! I’m a loyal customer to them forever!
The next is Origins Plantscription Anti-Aging eye treatment. I have super dry skin year round, and I am worried with the lack of natural oil my face produces that I will be getting crows feet earlier than the average person. That being said, I am diligent about using good quality moisturizers. I have been a fan of Origins products for years, and I decided to give this one a shot. It’s recommended for all skin types and is supposed to repair crow’s feet (bingo!), crepey lids, and sagginess. Well sign me up! I love the silky texture and really did notice a difference after a few weeks. It’s perfect for this time of year, though in the winter I would probably opt for something a bit thicker.
Next up is Urban Decay’s Revolution Lip Gloss in Scandal. I hate sticky lip glosses. I also hate lip glosses that wear off too quickly or taste badly. This lip gloss is none of the above. It goes on smoothly, stays where it’s supposed to, doesn’t have a funky taste, and is long lasting. This isn’t a product I would use everyday (although you could), in this bold color it gives you va va vavoom lips and I usually only want those when I am going out to dinner or have a special occasion. To visualize it … think more of a Gwen Stefani lip. You definitely could choose a lighter color and wear it with a more casual makeup look.
Last but not least is my new favorite CoverGirl’s Oh Sugar! Line. I love this stuff! It is not so much of a lipstick, but more like a tinted lip balm. If anyone has tried the Fresh Sugar line of lip products, you know that it is awesome. It gives you a velvety, silky texture with a hint of color, and it’s definitely not cheap. This Oh Sugar! line is super similar, but way less expensive. This is something that I would throw on to go to the grocery store because it gives my normal corpse-like colored lips a more healthy hint of color and feels amazing on my lips. I have tried the Caramel and the Jelly. I was a little freaked out when I bought the Jelly color because it looked so bright on the package. It came out this perfect little hint of pink, and the Caramel gives more of a neutral color. I will be testing out more of the colors on this line for for sure! I know once the kiddo sees this stuff I will have a hard time not having her steal it.
That’s it folks. I’m not being paid by any of these companies to endorse their brand. These are just some products I have run across that I love, and I think that you might too!

I also use IT Cosmetics and love their mascara, Happy Lashes..it is wonderful. I have their CC cream foundation as well, but I like more coverage than this gives me..of course at my “advanced” age..as you know..I realize good moisturization is key!! Thanks for sharing dear!!
