Happy Monday everyone!!! I hope you had a great weekend! I spent mine painting.
I did achieve a major accomplishment though — I actually cleaned my paint studio! It was a total pit: pieces of sandpaper, tools, knobs, and drawer handles were everywhere. I organized things, and I even vacuumed it! Now I can actually see the floor, so, hopefully, it should be easier to work in there. Which is good since I am getting ready to move a giant dresser in for my next project.
Sadly, school starts here on Friday. It makes me sad when the kiddo goes back.
It was so nice having her help me on my projects this summer. When you work from home, it can get kind of lonely, and it’s nice having her here to chat with as I work. Plus we are both night owls, and this whole getting-up-early-thing really doesn’t work out for either of us.
So before she heads back I am going to try to spend some fun time with her … so there won’t be 5 posts this week. I’m trying to keep the whole priority thing in check.
A little while back, a friend was getting rid of a couple of pieces of furniture, and I gladly took them off her hands.
This massive dresser (and by massive, I mean ridiculously heavy) was one of them. This was the first piece I completed that didn’t have any hardware, so since the fronts were so plain to begin with, I decided to focus on the color.
I’ve never painted an ombre paint job before, so I decided this was just the piece to try it on.
The shell of the dresser I painted ivory. The top drawer I painted the same ivory. Each drawer down, I added more and more turquoise to the lighter color.

Wow! Shanna – this is gorgeous! I’m amazed at the before and after shots. What a transformation!
Thank you Miss Tara!
Shanna, love your work.
I just live in Belle Plaine south of Wichita and was wondering what your fees for custom work? If you want you can shoot me an email with specifics. I have a garage full of midcentury and country pieces that my mother-in-law had.

I don’t like it when the kids go back to school either, and I don’t even have any going back. End of summer blues, I guess. Your dresser looks fabulous, you really nailed that color transition!!
