So I have told you about this set of dining chairs I got at a yard sale this summer. There was a set of 5: two captains chairs and 3 without arms.
They were godawful yellow with teal velvet seats.

Hello Everyone! Such a beautiful day here in Wichita! Doesn’t seem like December at all.
For the last several months, since I started my blog, I have received lots of questions. So I thought since I don’t have any project pics for you today (since I’m working on several big ones), that I could answer some of your questions.
It can be anything from your project questions, what my favorite movie is, to what color my bedroom is (it’s tan by the way, but decorated in an ice blue color).
Anything goes, well almost anything. Just throw your question down in the comment section at the bottom, and I will answer it to the best of my ability (unless it’s about my age and I will lie).

A few weeks ago, you saw my new kitchen curtains. The two windows right beside suddenly looked a lot more naked, and I didn’t like it. I love the view from our kitchen table, but I didn’t like it so stark.
I decided I wanted some valances that matched the curtains, and Topher finally agreed after weeks of pleading volunteered to do it.
This is Topher’s recount of the project:
Overall, building a couple of valances to hang over our naked windows wasn’t too difficult. If you want to try it at home, for the absolute minimum, all you’ll need is wood, a saw, and some paint. For my project, I used a sheet of plywood, a scrap piece of plywood, my jigsaw, my table saw, the 4′ level (for a straight edge), and a 5′ section of PEX piping.

In the last post I made about the kick boxing class I took, I made have a quick comment about me possibly attempting a step class also. After receiving many inquiries on the results of that venture, I have decided to give you all the gory details (and yes folks, I know you are laughing at me, not with me because I’m not laughing).
On the bright side this was a few years back, so it wasn’t a recent humiliation.
I wanted to take a class at the Y, but being coordinationally challenged I wanted something fairly easy.
On this particular day they were offering a beginner step class … perfect, how hard could that be? So I walk into class and see what equipment everyone else has.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We spent ours painting my unnamed daughter’s bedroom. Before it was jaguar themed, since that’s her high school’s mascot. She wanted a jade green color on three walls and the remaining wall painted in chalkboard paint. We got the three green walls finished but the chalkboard wall will have to wait until next weekend. Here is the before:…
Like a lot of couples, when Topher and I started out we were broke. We had 3 people living off a teacher’s salary, living in a cheap apartment so drafty you had to hang blankets over the windows for a wind break, and the curtains would still sway on a breezy day.
I planned on going back to work after I had our daughter only to realize almost my entire paycheck would be going to daycare, gas, and a business-acceptable wardrobe. I figured if I was going to be, basically, spinning my fiscal wheels, I might as well stay home with the baby. With only only income, I knew we would have to be budgetarily creative.
