New Fall Decor plus a Giveaway!!!

Hello my friends!

I’m getting so excited that fall is in the air! We are just starting to see the tips of the trees turning colors, and by next week I’m sure they will all be beautiful!

It’s been in the 60’s and 70’s here in Kansas, and the dogs are loving that they are getting to go on extra walks since the weather is so perfect!

Of course fall arriving means a change in the decor. Plaid throws and pumpkins are all over the house, and I couldn’t be happier.

That being said, the Decor Enthusiast girls and myself have decided to have a fall giveaway! Each of us chose a new favorite decor piece we have for our own home, and we are giving away a duplicate to you!

My new favorite find is this gorgeous rustic tray from Pier 1!…

Why Loews Regency SF was Heavenly

Hello my friends!

Sorry I have been MIA lately, but we have been struck with some illnesses around here the last month, and my sister-in-law had twin little girls (which are so stinking cute), and I have been watching my 3 year old niece while they recovered in the hospital.

A few weeks back, Topher and I went on a getaway to San Francisco, and I thought I would share a little about our stay.

Did you ever have a hotel stay that was perfect?

I mean where every. single. detail. was absolutely perfect?

Well we hadn’t either until we took our recent trip to San Francisco, where we stayed at Loews Regency. From the minute we walked through the door, we were treated like royalty … and for two kids from Kansas, that’s exciting stuff, people.

We arrived in SF a little early (gained two hours flying west), and we wanted to immediately start exploring the dozens of things on our “Things To See” list, but we didn’t want to drag our luggage around with us. Since our room wasn’t quite ready (it was before 10:00AM), Loews kindly offered to store it for us and immediately call us when our room was available.

After we got a bite to eat, sure enough we received a call that our room was ready for us. As soon as we walked back in the lobby, everyone there (from the doorman, to the concierge, to the front desk clerk) they all called us by name.

Once we were taken to our room, we were in awe. …

Harvest Garden Fall Tablescape

Hello my friends! Today I’m taking part in the Fall Ideas Tour 2016! All week there will be beautiful fall ideas from 28 home decor bloggers!

Yesterday they kicked off with mantels, and today we are moving on to fall tablescapes.

Being from Kansas, fall doesn’t usually last very long here. It typically goes from 100 degrees, straight to the 50’s, with maybe a week or two of pretty weather and colorful leaves in between.

That being said, I try to keep things simple since it’s so short lived, and we are on to Halloween before we know it….

Here in Kansas, it usually makes its way here a little later than other parts of the country. Until then, we have to use faux pumpkins, which can be equally as cute.

I try to keep fall decor pretty simple. It’s usually the decor I keep up the shortest amount of time, as I like to have my Halloween decor up for quite a while since I have so much of it….

Totally 70’s Dresser Makeover

Hello my friends! I’ve missed you!

Sorry I have been MIA lately, but Topher and I went on a trip to San Francisco last week, and it took me a couple of days to catch up. We had a lot of fun and some crazy adventures — if you want to follow along on our journey head over to our IG feed at Our Empty Nest Adventures.

Lately I have been working on my hoard problem. Making over furniture requires a lot of inventory, and right now I have inventory spilling out my ears. I am trying to get it all in one spot instead of the basement, the garage, and the storage unit.

I decided to get rid of the storage unit since it’s the one that is costing me money, so I started working on making over some of the bigger pieces to start clearing things out….

How to Make the World’s Easiest No Sew Roman Shade

Hello my friends!

I’m excited to tell you that today is our Decor Enthusiasts decor challenge! This month our theme is fabric.

Do you have an area in your house you have always said you were going to get to updating, but a million years later it still looks they way it did when you moved in?

Well for me, that area is the weird little recessed window above my kitchen sink. It’s such an odd little area I have always found challenging to decorate, so I just simply haven’t.

Also I have wanted a cute valance there, but it’s an odd sized window, so I knew I was going to have one custom made … and after looking into that I realized that was not in the budget!

I decided to take the plunge and make my own. If you are a normal reader here, you know that I do not sew — I don’t even own a sewing machine, let alone know how to use it.

What I do know how to use is glue, and that is exactly how I put this baby together!…
