Vintage Cane Bottom Chair Makeover

Hello everyone!

I’m still alive … just in case you were wondering.

Since the first of the year, I have been helping out my mom, who has been having some health problems, and I also have been working on some projects on my own home. Gasp! The two of those things have really taken me away from a lot of the normal projects you are used to.

The good news is I am really making an effort to try to manage my time more efficiently (something that is very hard for us creative types), and be able to spend equal time doing both. So, in the next couple of weeks, I have a lot of new projects in store for you!…

10 Minute Spring Wreath

Hello my friends!

Do you have beautiful weather where you live right now? The temps have been in the 60’s and 70’s here, and I couldn’t be happier. Spring is definitely my favorite season, and I’m so excited to see the trees starting to bud, and I already have daffodils blooming!

With that said, I’m in the mood to start sprucing things up on the outside.

While Topher has been working on the flower beds (since I have a tendency to kill anything that grows), I decided to work on something pretty for the front door. Swimming with the Stingrays in Antigua

Over the past few weeks I have filled you all in on our latest cruise. I showed you my Top 10 Ways to Cruise Cheaply and Our Day at St. Maarten.

I can’t emphasize enough how cruising is the only way to go for our family. Since we always have a vacation budget to stick to, cruising allows us the most bang for our buck. Since we don’t have unlimited funds and can’t travel to multiple places every year, cruising lets us see several different places every time we go.

Mid-Century Desk Makeover

Hello my friends!

Guess what today is? It’s Themed Furniture Thursday!

If you are new to the blog, this is where my blogging buddies and I choose a theme and interpret that theme however we want through our furniture makeover. This month’s theme was chocolate. Usually the color that comes to mind when you think of chocolate is brown. I didn’t have any pieces on hand that I wanted to stain or paint brown, so I decided to go with a white chocolate theme.

Black Vintage Dresser with Gold Leafing

A few months ago, I told you about how the lovely and talented Amy Howard brought a handful of bloggers, including myself, down to Memphis for a few days for a training session and some fun pampering. We got to hear her story about how her company began, and how it transitioned into having her own line of paint. She also spent some time teaching us some new techniques, and I got to use some products that were new to me.

Once we got home, she most generously sent us some products to work with on our own, and I thought I would share my first project with you today.

I picked-up today’s dresser at an estate sale this summer.

The piece was had great bones, but one side of it had some serious water damage….

Valentine’s Day Gumball Machine

Happy Valentines Day friends!

Hopefully you’re all doing something special today. Whether you are doing something with your significant other, a group of friends, or just pampering yourself with something special.

Topher is grilling us some steaks tonight, and I might make him watch a chick flick with me. We might go out to dinner later on this week when the wait at restaurants isn’t 2-3 hours.

We even bought the pups some of their favorite bones as a little V-Day treat for them.

I’m not sure what the unnamed child and her boyfriend are doing, but we are hoping it isn’t here so they don’t hog the TV….
