Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend.
Unfortunately, I received some bad news that put a dark cloud over mine. I woke up Saturday morning to find out my aunt, whom I’m very close with, had been in a terrible car wreck. She has some very serious injuries, so things are touch-and-go right now. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.
When I wasn’t at the hospital, I was working on projects to distract myself. A few weeks ago, a friend was getting rid of this hall tree and wanted to know if I would be interested in it.
I had never done a painted hall tree, so of course I accepted.
She is also the same kind lady that gave me the dresser I used for my ombre piece.
Here is the Before:
First, I taped off the mirror using Frogtape.
Next, I used two coats of light ivory paint followed by two coats of a darker ivory paint. I then distressed the entire piece — which took awhile.
Once I was finished, I used dark wax all around any of the crevices and around the detail work at the top. I then went over the entire piece with clear wax.
I replaced the white porcelain coat hooks with some bronzed ones and repainted the handle of the drawer.
I ended-up spending a few days on this, but I think it was worth it!

By the way did anyone see Miley Cyrus’s performance at the VMA’s last night? OMG! She was just nasty! She spent the whole performance rubbing all over herself and Robin Thicke. What killed me was that her mom was giving her the biggest standing ovation. Sad people, just sad.

Hi, I love your Hall Tree. I usually see them a lot bigger and yours is really a nice size as well as beautiful. Can you please tell me something about the horse that you have on the bottom, I have one and I am wondering if it is old or a new piece bought recently? I would appreciate any info you can give me on that.

I hope your aunt is doing better today. I’ll be praying for her! Love the hall tree and completely agree with you about Miley Cyrus. It was just disturbing in so many ways!

I absolutely LOVE this piece! It’s so great with the color accent on the drawer and the hardware. Nice job!
Okay and as for Miley…she’s just ridiculous! It’s obvious she is trying to hard to be outrageous and just looks completely trashy and drugged out. I hope she got the message from the audience that no one really enjoyed it except her crazy mom! HOT MESS! 🙂

I love what you did to the hall tree – the color is fantastic and I love the red accents. I am so sorry to read about your Aunt – I know how difficult it is to let someone you love go.
