I’m so glad it’s a new week! Last week … well frankly it sucked.
It started it out with me burning a big chunk of skin off my finger while hot gluing my book page wreath together. It got better when I had a massive migraine for 5 days — “thank you” to my great Facebook followers for your home remedy solutions! One afternoon while picking up the unnamed child, some punk in the school parking lot hit my car and drove off! Fantastic! Then some point in my adventures, I ran over a nail and popped a tire.
Lastly, after $200 in testing, I found out our 19 year old cat has hyperthyroidism. Now I have to spend another $200 testing to see if her kidneys are functioning well enough to tolerate the thyroid medication.
Yes last week suckity suck sucked.
That’s all history. Onto a new week!
I found this antique dresser at a Goodwill store, and I fell in love. It has great curved lines and fantastic old hardware. I was a bit worried because it was painted an ugly mustard color.
I knew I wanted it turquoise, but I wasn’t sure about the yellow showing through. I though about just not distressing it, but I said to heck with it and tried it out.
I actually loved the contrast between the two. I’m super happy with how it turned out!
Love it! The mustard color looks great showing thru as well. selling it?
Oh…that is pretty! I used to have a cat that had hypothyroidism. She took a pill every day that made her do just great. but, unfortunately after first doing really well, putting on weight and looking much better….she started losing all her hair and throwing up. Turns out she was allergic to the medicine that kept her well. The vet said I could send her off for chemo but she would have to stay away for weeks and then the dogs would have to stay away from her. I decided to just let her live as long as she could off medication. Vet thought the chemo would kill her. Oh…I felt awful the day I finally decided was “the” day to let her go.
But….I am writing to tell you that most likely they can give her a pill that will make her much better for quite awhile.
Good luck!
Thanks Nita! Hopefully my kitten doesn’t have the same allergy yours did. I’m just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best!
It looks great! The turquoise is really pretty!
I love it shanna! Great job!
Its’s beautiful! Amazing job! You’ve picked a great colour for a great shaped dresser! And you’re a very lucky lady – that dresser is an amazing thrift shop find!
Thanks Lacey! I was lucky usually the furniture at most thrift shops looks like it needs to go into the dumpster. Or if you do find it the prices can be way to high. I lucked out on this one!
This is simply beautiful. I love the curves and the color. Great choice of hardware as well. Thanks for sharing. Patti

My two favorite colors on a beautiful piece of furniture. Great job. Hope your cat gets well. Ours was in the vet hospital for three days because her kidneys mysteriously stopped filtering. She is now on a prescription low-protein diet and is much, much better.
This looks amazing! I bet you LOVE it- I know I would. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day!

Thank you Patti!
What a beautiful piece! You were right, it definitely needed to be turquoise. (Love the hardware, too!)
Thanks so much Miss Charming!
Love the color, just like everyone else! I’m drooling over the color. Could you share with us what paint you used and what chalk paint method of mixing you used? I really hope your cat gets better!
I love the colour. Turquoise and all its variations are my favourite colours. I made peacock blue by mixing Napoleonic blue, Antibes and Florence. Painted a waterfall dresser with it that turned out well.
Well that was one heck of a week! I know you’re glad to move on. The dresser is gorgeous, love that beautiful turquoise.
Thanks Karen! Anything turquoise is my weakness.
Could you please share your color recipe? Those are the exact two colors I am planning to redo my little girl’s room in. I was having a hard time choosing a shade of turquoise and voila! You did it for me! Thanks in advance!
Hello! Gorgeous shade of turquoise! I found your dresser via Pinterest that led me to the Power of Paint…then to to you. In the Power to Paint post it mentioned that the turquoise was a DIY chalk paint color. I’m wondering if you would perhaps share how you created this color?
Thank you kindly for your time! ~H♥~
I’m glad you got lead to me eventually Heather! I used the Plaster of Paris recipe for this chalky paint. I just used regular latex paint mixed with the p.o.p recipe and that was it! If you need the recipe you can google p.o.p chalk paint recipe. If you can’t find it let me know and I can send it to you!
This is a fun color that my daughter would love. I just finished a dresser that was in bad shape on my blog and awaiting the missing drawer…come by and check it out.
Thanks Terry! I’ll have to head over and see yours!
So beautiful. May I ask what the name of the paint color is and what brand? Thank you 🙂 I want to do a piece exactly this color. Stormie
