Hello friends! With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it got me wondering: What do you do for the big day? Do you and your significant other go all-out with a weekend away? Just a night on the town? Or do you have a quiet night at home? Do you exchange gifts? Do you give gifts to your kiddos?
When Topher and I first got married, like everyone else, we tried to go out on Valentine’s Day because it felt kind of anti-climactic not to do anything. We quickly found out that once we got to the restaurant and hiked miles to the entrance, we had a 3 1/2 hour wait! This, of course, was when we were young and broke and could barely pay for dinner and a babysitter, let alone a babysitter for 5 1/2 hours!
So after that frustrating night, we decided never again. From then on we have made a nice dinner at home and watched movies afterward, and we will go out to dinner the weekend before or afterward. So on the day itself, I will make sure I have washed my hair and have on makeup (not the norm), but honestly, I’m usually in jeans or something comfy. On our date night, I will throw on a dress and try to look nice. I figure if the guy has put up with me for over 20 years, it’s the least I can do.
Since the countdown is on, many of you have messaged me wanting some V-Day outfit ideas, so I pulled together some of my favorites. I gathered everything from cocktail dresses, in case you’re going somewhere swanky, to cute pink and red sweaters & sweatshirts, perfect if your night will be pizza and a Netflix marathon.
Both sound pretty darn good me!
