Turquoise Nightstand Makeover Times Two

It’s a cold, and soon to be wet, Spring Break here in Kansas — which, sadly, is pretty normal.

We are even supposed to have snow for the first day of Spring, so it looks like there will be no tanning-in-warmth-of-the-sun for the child that wishes to remain anonymous.

We did take a quick minivacation to Kansas City for a few days and took in some fun shopping and consumed a staggering amount calories including lots of pasta, bread and cupcakes. Looks like the kiddo and I will be spending the rest of spring break in the gym.

Some Like It Hot (or Not) … and the Red Vintage Dresser

Since the unnamed child is finished with her cheer season, I gave her the option of going out for track (which she quickly declined) or going to the gym with me everyday after school. I thought it would be a good way to motivate me and to force me to make time during the day for some exercise.

Here is how today went:

Me: Ready to go to the gym?

The kid: I’m not going.

Me: You have to go

The kid: I just straightened my hair today, and if I sweat I will have to redo it … and I hate working out.

Me: So do I, but if we don’t go we’re going to get fat, have a heart attack, and die. Or even worse … get cellulite

The kid: Fine I’ll go but you cant force me to sweat.

Happily Ever After? Probably Not.

The child that wishes to remain anonymous and I just finished watching The Bachelor. I must say, it was anticlimactic.  We thought out of all the girls, he chose the two most immature out of the entire bunch. So when it came down to choosing the final one, we didn’t really care.

I thought Lindsey just wanted to get married, and it didn’t really matter to whom (did you see the big honking tattoo on her foot when she stepped out of the limo? How did I miss that?).

Catherine is just in this for the adventure, and once it’s just another typical Friday night sitting around watching TV, she’ll bail.  When Sean went to meet her family, they told him they didn’t think she was ready to get married, and when he left there he said he thought it went really well. What the?

Maybe that’s why he’s still single.  He will just be Bachelor #67 … who can’t figure out why he’s still single.

Something Old, Something New

I hope you all had a good weekend! I spent the majority of mine painting … surprise, surprise.

Two of the pieces I have been working on have required eight million coats of paint for some reason, but they are both almost finished thank goodness! I also did some major cleaning around the house.

The thing about having people pick up furniture pieces at your home, is that is forces you to keep a tidy house. Or at least clean the rooms the person can see from the front door.

That was the case last week, a super sweet lady was picking up her piece, and her adorable toddler made his way into our kitchen. Nooooooo! Nooootttt the kiiiitttchen!!! I almost stroked out.  There was last night’s dishes in the sink, paint cans and supplies all over the counter, and crafting crap everywhere.

I about died.

She must have thought we were total pigs, and that day … she would have been right.

Mirror, Mirror

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend! I had lots of furniture pieces picked up by clients, so I feel a little less like a hoarder — which is a relief! I also worked on several projects, including the one I was going to show you today … but it hit a little snafu. Ugh, I hate it when that happens.

When I put the topcoat on the thing I painted, the dang paint started to bubble up. At that point it was already 8:30, and it was too late to start over. I’m working on fixing that today and hopefully will have it ready to reveal tomorrow.

So I thought I would show you some of my newest finds.

I went to pick up a table off of Craigslist last weekend, and while I was there I hit the vintage mirror jackpot.

Oh, did I mention they were super cheap? Score!

Bad Medicine

The snow is actually starting to melt here, and for the first time in a while there’s no more accumulation predicted in the forecast. That’s a great thing since the pups and I are much happier  when we have warm weather and sunlight.

Speaking of pups, my normal readers know I am at the vet’s office more often than Lindsay Lohan is in court — which is saying a lot. Yesterday was no exception. Gracie was in a scuffle with the neighbor’s dog and needed some anti-inflammatories, Charlie needed prednisone for his allergies, and Kitten needed her blood tested (follow-up for her thyroid issue).

I returned home with a bag of meds, and then I had to actually administer them.
