Glamour Queen

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!

We started thawing-out on Sunday … just in time for another round of snow. If the weathermen are to be trusted, we are expected to get another 9-15 inches between Monday and Tuesday. My daughter is trying to use the power of positive thinking in order to get yet another snow day.

The unnamed child and I were doing our own version of Fashion Police while watching the Oscars last night. (By the way we both think Naomi Watts wins hands down). For the child, the glitzier the better.

Junk Yard Doll

Teenagers are messy people. There you have it plain and simple. I was a slob when I was a teenager, and now my teenager that wishes to remain anonymous is an even bigger slob than I ever was. I ask myself, how can such a beautiful girl live with such a mess surrounding her?

How anyone can leave that much stuff from one end of my house to the other is beyond me. How can there even be anything left in her drawers or closet when you have to wade through clothes knee-high just to get to her bed. When I went in there the other day, there were 4 bags of opened chips, cans of opened pop (who knows how long they have been there … I haven’t bought pop in months), bowls of hardened frosting (I think), and some unknown substance, which could be penicillin at this point, on a plate under her bed.

My Funny Valentine

Recently I have had someone write in and ask how it was that Topher (my hubby for any new readers) and I met. It was kind of unconventional. Way back in the stone ages, I worked as a model (believe-it-or-not).

I just returned from a two-day photo shoot in Dallas where I hadn’t slept for 48 hours. I walked through my front door and played the messages on my answering machine (remember those?). It was from one of my best friends, who also happened to be my hairstylist and and makeup artist. She was doing a big photo shoot that night and I HAD to be there.

I collapsed on my bed, deliberating on how long a twenty-year old woman could actually go without sleep before death set in … and then the phone rang again, and my friend was on the other line begging me to come. I knew she would not stop calling until I caved. She promised it would only take two hours.

Roll With It

While at a yard sale last summer, I came across something unusual. I found a heavy, dense cylinder with a raised pattern consisting of strange, symmetrical shapes and nubbins all over it. It had holes on each end and someone had attached a lamp base to the bottom.

Definitely something unique.

Intrigued, I asked the owner if she could tell me anything about these one-of-a-kind, heinous-yet-filled-with-potential lamps.

Exciting Baby News!

Happy Monday everyone!! Who is suffering from a SuperBowl food hangover today? I thought Beyonce’s halftime routine looked great! I’m still cringing over that GoDaddy commercial … and sniffling over the Clydesdale and “God Made the Farmer” ones.

Well, I made it through my first craft show in one piece. We had a great turnout and thank you to all of my readers that came up and introduced themselves. I so enjoyed talking with you and putting a face with a name.

After killing myself and having zero sleep last week getting ready for it, yesterday I hibernated. I didn’t get out of my jammies at all. I hadn’t done that in forever. It was the first day I had taken off since October and I feel recharged today! I have some fun new projects to get started on for a couple of clients and a blogger contest coming up … so I am working on a super secret project for that.

Sorry To Interrupt…

I just had to share with you what just happened to me…

I saw a table I liked on Craigslist, so I called up the number and asked the man who answered for the measurements. He said he would call me back in a few minutes. So far … everything is normal.

A man of his word, he called back when right in the middle of giving me the measurements, I hear some commotion coming over the line and some woman starts screaming in the background.
