If we are lucky, in our lifetimes we have great loves in our lives. Sometimes these loves can be a spouse, a child, a best friend, and sometimes they are our pets. I feel very blessed that my husband and my daughter are the loves of my life, but so are Charlie, Gracie and Lulu. If you have been a follower for very long, you know that those last 3 names are those of my rescue dogs. Since I work from home, I am with them almost all of the time, and they are my little shadows that follow me everywhere. I’ve had them all since they were puppies (here’s their puppy pictures down below) and now as they are aging and starting to slow down a bit, I have had to change up their routines.

Being a blogger I am on my computer and sitting the majority of the time (usually with the pups surrounding me). I recently started noticing the scale edging in the wrong direction and my joints cracking and popping everytime I stand up. When I took the pups to their last check up, the vet commented on how their weight was increasing also. I decided we needed to change things up! Dogs, like humans, need to eat well and exercise, and I figured we could all change up our health and fitness routines together!

I started by scheduling-out our days the night before. I now schedule a daily walk for us all. I used to take all 3 dogs on a walk together (which was very infrequently if at all) and call it good. Now I walk all three of them separately, which makes my walking time a lot longer, and walking them one on one is a lot less chaotic. Also, since I have scheduled the walks into our day, I have time to take them on longer walks which burns more calories for all of us ad loosens up those joints!

We usually go on our walks first thing in the morning, then I work for a few hours, and then we take a break.

We head out to the backyard and play fetch, or they run around while I get in some lunges or squats. Anything to get our heart rates up again and get our metabolism going.

I just turned 43 this year, Gracie turned 13, Lulu turned 10, and Charlie turned 8.
