Hi guys! How was your weekend?
Yesterday, as promised, I only worked for a few hours and then took the rest of the day off.
We went and saw The Giver which was pretty good. There were a few things they didn’t really explain at the end, but it was worth the price of admission. I even splurged and got popcorn. Topher thinks movie theater popcorn is the most disgusting stuff on the planet, and while I agree it is horrible for you, I think having it once a year won’t kill you.
I worked for days on a new coffee table, only to finish stenciling it today to find out that my stenciling went downhill … literally — it got off track and started sloping downward.
I was so mad!
So now I have to repaint half of it and start over. Total bummer.
One thing I did finish was this vintage shelf.
I got this at a yard sale, but since I was buying a bunch of other stuff, the lady threw it it for free!
It was green. Like really green, with this nasty brown dry finish on top which had to go.
I cleaned the 20 years of filth off it, and then painted two coats of Plaster Paint in Flannel all over it.
Once it dried, I distressed the whole thing, letting just a bit of the green show through.
I then coated it in Plaster Paint Paste Wax and buffed it.

Love…it!

Thank you Jan!

Love it. Does applying clear wax change the color of plaster painted furniture?
Shanna says
Thank you Ginger! No the clear wax keeps the paint the same color. If you want to add an antique feel to a piece you just add the dark wax to it.

Love that paint color and the design of the shelf. Is this for you or will you sell it?
Shanna says
Thanks Paula! No this one is going up for sale!
