Plastic Soda Bottle Puggy Bank

I’ve got a big treat for you today!!! My uber talented friend from Stow and Tell U is visiting today. Amy never fails to amaze me with her creative projects. Hi All. I’m Amy and I blog over at Stow and Tell U. I’m so glad to be here, today, while Shanna is off in D.C.

Shanna and I have been blogging buddies now, for over a year. Her talent with a paint brush on furniture never ceases to amaze me, not to mention that every time I stop by to see what she is up to, I’m almost guaranteed to get a good laugh while reading one of her funny day-in-the-life tales.

When it comes to her pets, though, she doesn’t mess around. If you follow her you know that she is an avid promoter of pet care, safety and humane treatment.

That is why I knew that sharing the following project would be perfect because it is not as much about what I did with these plastic soda bottles, but why I made them, that made this a really special project to me where pets are concerned….

May in Review

May was a super busy month.

Lots of projects due and trying to get things wrapped up for the end of school. There wasn’t a huge amount of posts, mostly because the ones I completed were big ones.

Let me just tell you, the Vintage Chic Wedding Shower nearly did me in. The day we shot it, it was raining off and on all day. We packed up the car with all of stuff and drove it to a pretty location. Once we got there and set it all up, of course, it started raining. So we frantically loaded it all back in the car and sat and waited.

After 20 minutes we unloaded it again, set it all back up, and you guessed it, it started raining again. So we ended up doing this no less than 4 times. By then it was incredibly hot and humid. On the last setup, we knew we had to move fast because it looked like it could rain any second and the frosting was melting off the cupcakes and cookies after being in the heat for so long. Let’s just say I earned my money that day….

Easy Summer Burlap Wreath

Since I painted my front door a pretty jade green this year, I also have to have something that coordinates with that. So I decided to make a burlap wreath with a bright pink pop of color!

You might find this hard to believe, but this is my first burlap wreath … gasp!

Flower Filled 3-D Letters (and an invitation to get buff)

It’s Thursday here … well actually it’s Wednesday night, but since I will be up going to yard sales at 6 am on Thursday, I am writing this the night before.

If you saw my post from yesterday (actually today — but yesterday to you), you saw my post on Vintage Chic Wedding Shower ideas.

One of my favorites were the flower filled 3-D letters. I picked-up these cardboard letters at Jo-Anns. I think they were around $4 a piece, but I used my 40% off coupons so they weren’t too pricey.

First thing ~~I did~~ Topher did was cut them in half.

After they were all cut in half, I spray painted them a light pink.

I then filled them with florist foam (I found mine at Dollar Tree). I will tell you … this stuff was harder to cut then I thought. Make sure you use a sharp knife and lots of caution….

Vintage Chic Wedding Shower

It’s almost June, and you know what that means? Wedding season!

I’ve hosted several wedding showers in the past, and all of the party supplies at the chain stores just don’t seem to cut it. When I host a shower, I like it to be more personalized to the couple, and Shutterfly is just the answer!

When I decorate, I love mixing new pieces with unique, vintage items, and that is what I decided to do with my latest shower.

As a hostess, you want the party to be beautiful without breaking the bank, so it’s always good to incorporate items that you already own. I happened to have a vintage dust ruffle in the basement, and I decided to use that as the tablecloth. I also had two vintage suitcases, so I decided to paint them turquoise to use as risers to add some height to the table….
