Lets start at the beginning….
I’m pretty excited about this post! It’s been a long time coming.
Shortly after moving into our house eight years ago, we purchased a nice glass table and chair set.
I regretted that purchase almost immediately! Glass table + busy family = constant, smudgy mess. This table has been wiped down at least 1,000,000 times.
It’s almost uncanny how quickly this thing gets dirty. I’ll wipe it down so it’s spotless, walk into the next room, come back and see that some poltergeist ran smeary fingers across it — or the sun shift in the afternoon and all of a sudden an entirely new set of schmutz will magically appear. And don’t even get me started on how disturbing it is to eat while three little white dogs stare up from underneath…
I hate that glass table.
I knew our next table would be wooden, and about a year ago I can across this table on Craigslist….

I hope you all had some fun Super Bowl parties yesterday! I had a massive amount of work left on the big project I have for you tomorrow, and after having no sleep and working every second of the day for two days, I was way too tired to go anywhere.
I was working in some Cirque du soleil-ish positions, and my neck and back are so angry. I would have been more than excited to heat up a frozen pizza and have gone to bed at 6:00 last night, but the unnamed child said that would have been “a sucky way to spend the Super Bowl”, so she talked me into making some high calorie (but really good tasting) food. I made a Doritos Chicken Casserole, a white pizza cheese dip, and a chocolate chip cookie pie — all of which were pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
So after I get my hair colored today, I will be heading back to the gym to work off the 2 lbs of cheese I ate.
You probably know how so many of my craft projects contain mostly items from Dollar Tree. Craft projects can really add up, and I find I can get the most bang for my buck at Dollar Tree … and today’s project is a perfect example….
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is thawing out.
I heard some great stories of kindness during these blizzard like conditions, but I love the story of the Chick-fil-A owner in Birmingham. The storm got so bad, he sent his workers home only to find them back at the store shortly after as they got stuck and had to abandon their cars. The highway and streets were filled with people who had been stuck, some for up to 7 hours without food. The Chick-fil-A owner and his staff started making food and trudging out in the snow to take food to all of these poor people in their cars. This went on for hours and people were incredibly grateful for their kindness. He also helped people back to his store and let them stay the night where it was warm. He and his staff got up that morning and made breakfast for all these people also never asking for a dime in return. This man is incredibly inspiring.

Over the summer I found this picture for a $1. Now, I’m sure that when you look at this, you think a dollar might have been too much to pay for this picture of some old guy (who I think might be Ponce De Leon, but Topher thinks it’s Copernicus — but that doesn’t roll off the tongue, so we are just going to stick with Ponce).
While I love my Spanish conquistador as much as the next guy, Ponce definitely wasn’t fitting in with my decor, so he had to go undercover….
Hello my friends! Is it as cold where you are as it is here? I know a lot of my blogging buddies out East are snowed-in today.
As you all know, I am not a fan of the cold, but it does force me to stay inside and get some painting done. One type of paint I haven’t worked with too often are metallics, so when the lovely people over at Modern Masters sent me some metallic paint to try out, I was super excited.
I found this little table at a yard sale last summer for $5.
I didn’t have a plan for it before, so I thought with the feminine lines that it had, the metallic would look perfect on it….
