My client brought me this dingy, dirty bookshelf she found off of Craigslist. I cleaned it up, and made my own DIY ivory chalkpaint. This is the recipe I used. 1 1/2 cups of paint 1/2 cup hot water 1/2 cup plaster of paris Mix and let set 30 minutes. ... VIEW POST

Easy as Pie Pumpkins!
Cute, festive pumpkins sit on every porch in my neighborhood, and I was having a little pumpkin envy. I took care of that yesterday. I found two white pumpkins -- one was a little scarred up, but it was the best I could do since all the others were lopsided, not white, or warty (who wants a warty pumpkin?) . They seemed a bit boring, so I decided to spice them up a bit (get it? spicing up my pumpkins?). I dug out my leftover garage sale stickers and my daughter and I stuck them all over, ... VIEW POST
ALERT! ALERT!
OMG! Red Alert! Red Alert! We have caught the opossum!! After weeks of trying he (or I guess it could be a she) has been captured! Here is the part where I'm freaking out, it's been in the cage in my driveway all day! Topher only dragged the cage from the backyard to the front (so the dogs could go out without going insane when they saw it). He didn't have time to rehome it before work. I feel terrible that it hasn't had any food or water since midnight. So I called our local Animal ... VIEW POST
Just Call Me Alice
My dear friend Casey (whom I couldn't live without) has a term for my type of projects. She's named my style "Alice in Wonderlandish". She said my pieces were full of bright colors, and were a little quirky with interesting shapes and unique features. If grouped together they look Wonderlandish. Never thought of it that way. Lately though with the crazy things that have been happening around here, I do sort of feel like we fell down the rabbit hole. For example: Let me tell you about last ... VIEW POST
Snow White
I rescued this pretty little side/coffee table at a yard sale for a steal. I loved the detailed carving on the sides. I usually do quite a bit of color in my pieces but decided this one had so much going on that simplicity was the key. So I decided to chalk paint it white. I've done ivory before but never white. Once it was white the carving got lost. ... VIEW POST
No Sleep, Part 2
As you may remember last week, I had a night where I was woken by animals all throughout the night. Now that isn’t an uncommon occurrence in this house, but last week I had two extreme nights in a row. Wednesday night I ended up with a whopping two hours of sleep when it was all said and done -- so Thursday, I was dragging. My hubby was off work (and Friday also) so I was excited to have him home to help on some honey-do projects. We did lots of those, and even went to a new-to-me architectural ... VIEW POST
They Call Me Mellow Yellow
I have three fluffy white dogs. I have only introduced you to Gracie and Lulu, but Charlie’s story is for another day. As it happens, all three of them have allergies. In the spring and fall they are itchy messes. At night, after they go out for the last time, we stick them in the tub with a couple inches of water to wash the pollen off. Last night we forgot, and this is how my night went: 1:00am -I try to fall asleep. 1:30 - I get up because Gracie is scratching like crazy while laying ... VIEW POST
