Black Mirror Makeover (and my new chandelier!)

I found something amazing!!! I’m so stinkin’ excited about this!  So Tuesday, I was making my daily rounds on Craigslist when I came across an ad for a chandelier that had just been listed.

You all know how I am when it comes to chandeliers, see here, here and here. But this this one takes the cake! Although I did show Topher my great find and he wasn’t nearly as excited as I was (funsucker), but you guys all get me so I know you will be just as excited as I am.

Once I saw the picture I knew I surely wasn’t the first one to see it, since it had been listed for a whole 4 minutes, but I replied to the email and nervously paced around waiting for a reply … totally expecting a “sorry but this has already been sold”, which would have killed me because this chandelier could totally make my life.

Well, lo and behold, after 15 minutes of me hitting refresh on my email, I got a response saying I could pick it up that night!

Ho-ly freakin’ cow! I couldn’t believe it.

Client’s Bedroom Makeover

I’m very excited for today’s post!

Over the past year, selling all sorts of furniture pieces, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting quite a few amazing people.  One of my favorites is a client (now a friend) named Teresa.  Teresa brought me a piece to do.  And then one more.  And then another.  And another.  Together, we’ve been able to put together a pretty amazing, one-of-a-kind guest bedroom — and she recently sent me pictures now that it’s almost complete….

Painted Hall Tree

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend.

Unfortunately, I received some bad news that put a dark cloud over mine.  I woke up Saturday morning to find out my aunt, whom I’m very close with, had been in a terrible car wreck. She has some very serious injuries, so things are touch-and-go right now. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

When I wasn’t at the hospital, I was working on projects to distract myself.   A few weeks ago, a friend was getting rid of this hall tree and wanted to know if I would be interested in it.

Child’s Painted Desk

The unnamed child returned to school last week. So far, so good — except that she has a an enormous amount of homework, and she has only been in school for 4 days.

She is taking Modern World History and Ancient World History at the same time, so how she knows what century she is in is beyond me.

She is also taking the hardest math class offered in high school. Since math has never been my strong suit, I definitely am unable to help her with Statistics and Trig. I’m pretty sure she surpassed me in math around the third grade.  It’s a strange feeling when you realize that your child is smarter than you.

As a mother, it’s important to me to make sure my child gets everything on the school supply list.

To my daughter, it’s important to bring supplies that show a bit of her personality along with being functional.

A Horse of a Different Color (Carousel Horse Makeover)

Last night I could not sleep. It was one of those nights where it just wasn’t happening.

Topher woke up at 5:00 this morning, and I was still just laying there. So when I got out of bed, everything was just achy. I think it was a mixture of the no sleep and the I’m-getting-old thing … which really sucks.

So out the door I go to let the pups out while still in my jammies. I’m barely awake, and I walk face first into the most ginormous spider web! Ugh! I’m flailing around all across my deck, and my eyes still aren’t even all the way open yet.

Just as I get most of it off me, I turn around to go back inside and Gracie comes flying up to me with a huge glob of poop stuck to her tail.
