Sadly, I turned one year closer to the big 4-0, but I did have a great day.
I started off the morning by going to a great vintage sale where I scored some great goodies. If you want to see them, head over to my Instagram account.
My mom then made me a big lunch, and she made it all fancy … even bringing out her china. It was nice having the whole family there, and I’m pretty sure I watched my one year old niece eat her body weight in mashed potatoes.
Topher, the kiddo, and I went to Bonefish Grill for dinner that night, followed by Topher’s famous Pecan Pie Bars.
The day ended with us watching a few episodes of Fixer Upper.
Pretty darn good day if you ask me.
Yesterday was filled with craziness as I got my house around for a little Fall tour! Normally, I don’t do a whole lot as far as Fall decor goes. I go straight from Summer decor to Halloween — mostly because here in Kansas, Fall usually lasts a whole two days. We go from crazy freaking hot to freezing your arses off in no time flat.
This weekend, however, it was absolutely beautiful, so it got me inspired.
On my buffet I used some old shutters that I found at a yard sale for a whopping one dollar last year. I painted them ivory and hung some mirrors I bought from Joss & Main last year.
The oval frame was from a yard sale from years ago, along with the gold deer head that I got at Hobby Lobby over the summer.
I used the same owls from Pier One that I used on last year’s fall mantel with my hedgehogs (also from Pier One) that I used on my buffet for Christmas. I threw in some vintage mason jars I had in the basement for a bit of color.
The pedestal I got from Antique Farmhouse a few months ago with a pumpkin from a long ago TJ Max purchase.
Yesterday, the kiddo made the rag garland for me out of some old scrap fabric I had and an old lace table cloth that was ruined. I was going to show you a tutorial for it, but I didn’t want to insult your intelligence. You literally cut strips of fabric and then tie them around a string.
That’s it.
As far as the mantel goes, I shopped my house. I brought out some old frames, some vintage bottles (that I got on Saturday), and spray painted some plastic pumpkins white.
The thing second from the end on the right side is the bottom of a broken lamp that I got at a yard sale for a dollar. I wasn’t sure what to do with it since there wasn’t a lot left of it, but I thought it was pretty. Topher told me I would never use it for anything and to throw it out … but just to prove him wrong I found a use for it.
The big round frame I got for $2 a year ago at a yard sale.
The pumpkins on the coffee table were a combination of last year’s yard sale finds and last year’s TJ Maxx purchases.
The dough bowl came from Antique Farmhouse a couple of years ago.

The wreath I will show you how to make tomorrow, and all of the supplies came from Dollar Tree.
The only thing I did purchase was my new fall doormat, which came from Target.
All in all I did all of this fall decor for less than $20.
If your house is anything like mine, you have so much junk stored away in your basement you forgot what you actually have. Sometimes, simple things like mason jars or vintage bottles can add a fun touch to your decor. Open up all of those old cabinets and boxes and start thinking outside the box with what you have.
Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to cost a lot. Sometimes, it just means opening up your imagination and getting creative. Plus, all of that crap that your husband says that you’ve been hoarding collecting and wanted you to get rid of will actually come in handy.
So the next time you come home from a yard sale with a broken lamp or another old birdcage, and he starts nagging you, can say you’re going to decorate with this, and he might actually start to believe you.
